Analysis of soil and water conservation progress based on CiteSpace and BERTopic

      • Soil and water loss governance is important for realizing ecological security and sustainable development, therefore it is necessary to grasp the dynamics and future directions of research in this field. This study combined bibliometric tool CiteSpace and thematic model BERTopic to systematically analyze the literature in the field of soil erosion control from 2005 to 2024, and to reveal its research dynamics and future directions. It is found that the research hotspots in China showed regionalized differences, and the research hotspots had been gradually expanded from the traditional soil erosion control to the frontier areas such as ecological compensation mechanism and informatization monitoring.Through the BERTopic model, this study identified 31 themes, which were categorized into five core research areas.Future research will be deepened around the technological innovation of vegetation-soil synergistic restoration, dynamic assessment of ecological service value, policy-driven and multi-technology integration of governance, and construction of intelligent monitoring platforms, so as to promote the convergence of precise governance and carbon neutral goals. Based on this, it is recommended to strengthen the research and development of inter-disciplinary technologies and the exploration of regional differentiated governance modes, and provide systematic solutions for land degradation prevention and treatment in ecological governance through the innovation of intelligent monitoring network and ecological value transformation mechanism.
