Development and application of automated assessment system for river and lake health indicators

      • To address issues in traditional river and lake health assessments such as fragmented data, complex calculations, and poor timeliness, this study developed a lightweight desktop application using the WinForm platform, C# language, and SQLite database, based on The Yunnan River, Lake, Reservoir, and Canal Health Assessment Guide (Trial). An automated assessment system for river and lake health indicators was designed and implemented, supporting independent indicator scoring, storage of assessment results, and visual presentation.By constructing a three-tier assessment framework target layer-criterion layer-indicator layer encompassing four criterion layers of waterfront zone condition, water quantity and quality, biological status, and social service function, along with 26 differentiated indicators, comprehensive assessment was conducted using dynamic weight allocation. The practical application of the system to 12 major rivers and 12 key reservoirs under provincial and municipal river chief management in Lincang City, Yunnan Province, demonstrated that it significantly improved assessment efficiency by over 80%.The system can provide a scientific basis for river and lake management and data support for formulating individualized "One River(Lake), One Solution" management strategies.
